This short yet rewarding 2-day safari is perfect for travelers with limited time who still want to experience the wildlife-rich landscapes of Tanzania’s Northern Circuit. Your journey focuses on the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater—one of the best places in Africa to spot a wide range of classic East African wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, zebras, hyenas, and, with luck, the endangered black rhino.
Although the trip involves substantial driving and offers a shorter window for predator sightings, it remains an excellent choice for a quick and unforgettable safari experience.
All our safaris are available as private trips and can begin on any day.
Day 1: Drive to Lake Manyara or Tarangire for an afternoon game drive (LD)
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater, half-day game drive, drive to Arusha/Kilimanjaro Airport (BL)
Day 1: 2-Day Tanzania Safari – Lake Manyara or Tarangire (LD)
December–May (Lake Manyara):
Depart for Lake Manyara National Park with a picnic lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive. This highly scenic park is framed by the towering cliffs of the Rift Valley escarpment and surrounds the shimmering Lake Manyara.
Wildlife commonly seen includes hippos, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, impala, dwarf mongooses, hyraxes, wildebeest, and zebra. With a bit of luck, you may spot tree-climbing lions or leopards.
Birdwatching Highlights:
Lake Manyara offers exceptional birdlife, with species such as flamingos, pink-backed pelicans, yellow-billed storks, silvery-cheeked hornbills, Fischer's lovebirds, Peters twinspot, and a variety of raptors including martial eagle, Bat hawk, Verreaux's eagle, and Rüppell's griffon vulture.

June–November (Tarangire):
Depart for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch and enjoy a game drive until late afternoon. Tarangire is famous for its massive elephant herds, thriving lion prides, and striking baobab landscapes.
During the dry season, large numbers of antelope and elephants gather along the Tarangire River. Rare species found here include gerenuk, oryx, and African wild dog.
